The possibilty of a development here has been known for a long time although with no solid confirmation. It has sometimes been referred to as Pencarreg Mountain wind farm. Bute have not yet published a detailed location plan or layout, although we are aware of preliminary documents. The site is about 5km south of Lampeter.

This follows another recent announcement from Bute for Waun Hesgog Energy Park, a very large proposal on the Ceredigian-Powys border, with up to 37 wind turbines.

Peatlands Under Threat!

CPRW reveals new findings ...

The Welsh Government and Natural Resources Wales (NRW) have committed millions of pounds to peatland restoration initiatives. For instance, the National Peatland Action Programme has received funding from the Welsh Government, with over £2.5 million allocated over a two-year period. Furthermore, a total of £150 million has been spent during this Senedd term on various nature restoration efforts, including peatland restoration.

But Peatlands are under threat despite Welsh Government promises - read the NOT A NIMBY Substack.com article here!

On Saturday 28th June, eight campaign groups joined forces at the Newtown Outdoor Festival to raise awareness of the huge number of windfarm and pylon proposals threatening the Welsh Heartlands. There were representatives from CPRW, RE-Think, Save Banc Du and Rhiwlas, Protect Glaslyn & Hafren, Caru Teifi, Save Garreg Hir, Wild Wales Trust and Intelligence Research Network.

Many visitors to the stall were shocked by the scale of the proposals and the turbine heights, as demonstrated by the turbine model, made by Barry Hayness from Cellan. Reform Powys County Councillor Iain McIntosh, (Brecon & Radnor), spent a long time listening to our concerns.

The campaign groups were able to share a great deal of information and the weather and location were kind to us!

show more/less

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is developing plans to build a new 400kV electricity substation on land off the A484, near Llandyfaelog. The proposed substation is in response to connection requests from National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) and Green GEN Cymru, who are responsible for the twp pylon line schemes through the West Wales countryside. Both pylon lines will terminate at Llandyfaelog. The NGED and Green GEN Cymru 132kV substations will be built at the same location as the NGET 400kV substation.

Two consultation sessions will take place at Llandyfaelog Community Hall on June 25th and July 12th, with an online web event on July 8th. The public can make feedback comments about the substation plan between June 17th until July 15th.

The North South pylon line: How did we get here, where will it go?
Posted on Monday November 18, 2024

We can achieve net zero using only offshore wind.  The Irish Sea alone can produce more energy than the whole of onshore Wales.  We can transmit the energy long distances under the sea.  We can get the energy to even the remotest farm using wooden poles or “ploughed in” cables.  We can protect and conserve our landscapes for future generations. Everything is possible, but we’re not doing it Instead we are littering our hills and moorlands with industrial wind farms, and stringing them all together using 55 m high steel lattice pylons.
