Four Wind Farms — Sharing the Same Road Networks

Above Llanddewi Brefi · Llanfair Clydogau · Pumsaint · Rhandirmwyn

Introduction

The flyer you’ve received is part of a community effort to share what is happening above and around Lampeter — Four industrial wind farms are being proposed, all using the same rural road network.

Here you’ll find an interactive map, key facts, and a practical guide to help you understand what’s planned and how to make your voice heard.

Every local view matters — together, we can make sure these decisions take account of the people who live and work here.

⚠️ What This Flyer Is About

Four industrial wind-farm schemes are being promoted above Lampeter — all planning to use the same narrow rural road network for construction traffic.

That means convoys of heavy vehicles, road widening, tree felling and long-term disruption affecting farms, homes and small businesses from the M4 right through to the Cambrian Mountains.

This page links the facts in the flyer to the background information, maps and planning documents behind each project — so you can see what's proposed, where, and how to respond.

🌏 Why It Matters

Each scheme is being promoted separately, but they rely on shared infrastructure.

If they proceed together, the combined effects will be far greater than any single project admits:

  • Traffic congestion
  • Habitat loss
  • Landscape change
  • Damage to fragile upland roads.

These are not isolated developments. They are part of a much wider industrial corridor across Mid Wales — affecting everyone who depends on these routes and landscapes.

The Four Projects

  1. Waun Maenllwyd Energy Hub (Belltown Power)
    • 6 turbines up to 230 m high, north of Llanfair Clydogau.
    • Predicted 85 vehicle trips per day (61 HGVs).
    • 💡 Pre-Application Consultation closes 29 October 2025.
  2. Bryn Cadwgan Energy Park (Galileo Energy UK)
    • 19 turbines up to 230 m high, above Cellan and Llanddewi Brefi.
    • Traffic Assessment: 80–90 HGV movements daily.
Pre-App Consultation closed October 2025 — awaiting DNS submission.
  3. Bryn Rhudd Wind Farm (Bute Energy)
    • 15 turbines, early scoping stage.
    • No transport data published yet.
  4. Lan Fawr Wind Farm (Bute Energy)
    • 40 turbines, early consultation phase.
    • Above Llanddewi Brefi, Rhandirmwyn and Pumsaint, within sight of the Cambrian Mountains National Landscape area.

All four wind farms will use the National Trust Dolaucothi Estate in Pumsaint as their site access point before following forestry tracks to reach their construction sites.

? How You Can Help

This isn’t just about individual wind farms — it’s about the future of our valleys, our roads and our communities.

  • Reading the project summaries and maps
  • 🔊 Sending a short comment or objection during consultations
  • Talking to neighbours and community councils
  • ✉️ Writing to your elected representatives in the Senedd and Westminster
  • ⚯ Sharing the link so others understand what’s proposed

Every single comment shows that the community is paying attention.

Next Steps

These proposals will shape the roads, landscapes and communities we all share.

If you’d like to understand more — or add your voice to the consultation — our practical guide explains exactly how.

Didn’t get a flyer?

You can read or download the leaflet that started this campaign.

It explains how four industrial wind farms plan to share the same narrow rural road network through the Teifi, Towy and Cothi Valleys.

Additional Related Projects

Nant Ceiment Wind Farm (Bute Energy) – proposed upland site east of Cwmann and north of Pumpsaint; early-stage plans for 13 large turbines likely to use the same A482 transport corridor.

Glyn Cothi Wind Farm (Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru) – emerging proposal in the upper Cothi Valley between Brechfa Forest and Llanllwni; details still limited, but part of the same development zone.

Towy–Teifi 132 kV Power Line – a new 52km grid route linking multiple wind-farm sites to the national network, cutting across farmland and upland valleys.

Together, these projects show the wider industrialisation pressure now facing Mid Wales.
